Details

Give dry skin more than a surface shine.

Hands, elbows, knees and shins can look pale or grey when the surface becomes dry and rough. This ashy appearance can be especially noticeable against deeper skin tones.

Skin Reserve conditions that dry surface with a blend of fluid seed oils and rich botanical butters. Sesame and baobab soften and improve spread. Cocoa and shea create a cushioned layer that helps slow moisture loss. Tapioca starch helps manage excess surface oil, while bisabolol contributes skin conditioning and tocopherol helps protect the oils from oxidation.

Apply after showering, while skin is slightly damp, or layer over moisturizer. Use a thin layer on dry hands and elbows whenever they need additional conditioning.

Ingredient research

The evidence behind the formulation.

BAOBAB OIL AND MOISTURE RETENTION
A published pilot study in 20 healthy adult women assessed topical baobab seed oil using skin-hydration and transepidermal water-loss measurements. The researchers reported improved moisture retention and reduced water loss under the study conditions.

UNDERSTANDING VISIBLE ASHINESS
Research in 37 Black African women linked measured ashiness with the severity of surface dryness. It supports treating dryness as the concern behind this particular pale, ashy appearance.

STARCH AND THE FINISH
A formulation study of waterless lotion bars, including tapioca starch, examined oil absorption and sensory properties. It supports the role of starch in managing a greasy after-feel in lipid-rich products.

These studies explain ingredient selection and the skin concern. They did not test the finished BARAQEN formula, so they do not establish a product-specific percentage improvement or hydration duration.

Ingredients

Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Tapioca Starch, Tocopherol, Bisabolol.

How to use

After the shower. Before the day.

FOR THE BODY
Gently towel-dry after bathing, leaving skin slightly damp. Warm a small amount between your palms and massage across arms, legs, chest or other dry-feeling areas. Add more only where needed. Allow it to settle before dressing.

FOR HANDS, ELBOWS, KNEES AND HEELS
Massage a thin layer into rough patches. Reapply to hands after washing when they feel dry. At night, layer over your usual moisturizer for richer targeted care.

FOR THE FACE
Start with one or two drops, or a similarly small amount if the texture is thicker. Press over moisturizer, preferably in your evening routine. Use sparingly on areas prone to congestion.

FOR FRICTION-PRONE AREAS
Smooth a thin layer over clean, intact external skin where movement or clothing creates drag. Reapply as needed.

Patch test first. Avoid the eyes, broken skin and internal intimate areas. Do not use if allergic to sesame or another listed ingredient. Stop use if irritation develops.

Before

After

For dry, rough and ashy-looking skin.

Less ashiness.

Softer dry patches.

More comfort.

Target the dry surface, help retain moisture and give rough areas a smoother, more comfortable finish.

REDUCE THE LOOK OF ASHINESS
Sesame and baobab oils soften the rough, dry surface that can give skin a pale or grey cast. Hands, elbows and shins look more conditioned as the surface becomes smoother.

HELP DRY PATCHES RETAIN MOISTURE
Cocoa and shea butters add rich emollient care and help limit the loss of existing moisture. Apply over slightly damp skin or lotion to leave dry areas feeling softer and less tight.

ADD CUSHION AND CONTROL THE FINISH
The oil-and-butter blend adds glide where clothing and movement create drag. Tapioca starch helps absorb excess surface oil, supporting a smooth satin finish. Start small and allow it to settle before dressing.

Why dry skin can look ashy.

Dry, rough skin can take on a pale or grey cast. Skin Reserve combines softening seed oils, moisture-retaining butters and tapioca starch to condition that surface and balance the finish.

Consistent care

Skin Care Over Time

Notice the finish first. Use Month 1 and Month 2 to review your routine.

  • MONTH 1

    Build a post-shower habit.

Apply consistently to slightly damp skin, focusing on hands, elbows, knees and shins. Look for softer texture, a more conditioned appearance and less tightness after washing.

Use the smallest amount that leaves the area comfortable. Take a starting photograph if visible ashiness is your main concern.

  • MONTH 2

    Keep the dry areas comfortable.

Review the same areas between applications. Compare roughness, comfort and the ashy appearance in similar light, before adding fresh product.

Adjust for frequent handwashing, dry weather and clothing friction. These are routine check-ins, rather than fixed deadlines for results.
